UV, USC near Milo Best nationals

The Passerelle squad of the University of the Visayas (UV) and the University of San Carlos (USC) side in the Small Basketeers of the Philippines made it to the finals after coming away with crucial victories in the elimination round of the Milo Best SBP Passerelle Twin Tournament Visayas Regional Finals in Roxas City.

UV came away with a convincing 56-21 win over the Colegio de Purisima Concepcion (CPC) that raised its win-loss record to 2-0.

Hua Siong College of Iloilo then downed the University of St. La Salle, 43-36, to also hike its record to 2-0 and set up a finals showdown with UV.

In the SBP class, USC routed St. John’s Institute, 53-38 before destroying CPC, 72-21, to finish with a perfect 3-0 mark.

Standing opposite the Baby Warriors in the finals will be Ateneo de Iloilo, which bounced back from an opening-day loss to USC by defeating both CPC, 74-27, and St. John’s, 38-31.

The championship games were still being played in as of press time.
