Six male employees of the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Carcar City tested positive for drug use during a surprise drug testing yesterday.

Joey Herrera, Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Commission (CPADAC) executive director, said a memorandum was sent to 60 employees to undergo tests, but only 37 showed up. Herrera said  he was told that   the staffers were to have a meeting yesterday afternoon that’s why he took the opportunity to conduct a surprise drug test. He said even the Chief of Hospital was not told about the test.

Five of the six who tested positive were from the utility department while one is a healthcare professional.

Herrera said the 23 employees who were absent could not be sanctioned since it was their rest day yesterday.

Those who were absent will be asked to explain why they were not able to come yesterday.
