Pepito rules Deep Blue Christmas Open chess

Vicmel Pepito emerged the winner of the Deep Blue Christmas Open Chess Tournament after having the highest score at the Deepblue D’ Woodpushers Club at SM City-Cebu last Sunday.

Pepito tallied a total of 5.5 points to win the championship title.

Venancio Loyola, Joey Ardiente, Carlos Moreno III, Glenn Pardillo and Allan Sallentes tallied 4.5 points each but it was Loyola who bagged the second place honor after winning in the Bucholz tie-breaker. Ardiente placed third after another tie-breaker, while Moreno grabbed the fourth spot.

Pepito took home P8,000 cash, while the second placer, Loyola, received P4,000 cash.

Organizing the tournament is Etthi Dominguito while sponsors were Atty. Boy Tan, Atty. Carlos Tan, Rene Bacolod, Dr. Darcy Tabo-tabo, Nestor Encallado, Jojo Paredes, Atty. Jong Melendez, Dr. Ben Rodriguez, Alex Chuachoy, Uno Car Shop, Excel Canque, An Hyong Yuob, D’ Woodpushers Club, Engr. Spiro Latorre, Eti Quinanola and William Paler.
