Ticket to Dubai Int’l chess at stake in Cebu School of Chess

A ticket to join the prestigious Dubai International Chess Open 2015 will be the top prize for the winning kiddies wood pusher in the upcoming Cebu School of Chess Kiddies Grand Finals slated Dec. 28 to 30.

Organized by Cebuano International Master (IM) Kim Steven Yap, the tournament will feature the finalists of the chess school’s monthly tournaments held throughout this year.

Yap returned to Cebu after joining two major tournaments in Metro Manila. He finished 12th in the Philippine International Chess Championships and 27th in the PSC/Puregold International Chess Challenge.

The upcoming tournament is sponsored by Rose Pharmacy and the Cebu Executives and Professionals Chess Association (Cepca).

Registration is free.

Aside from the ticket to join the Dubai International Chess Open next year, the winning wood pusher will also take home also a P5,000 purse.

The contenders are James Andrew Balbona, Duane Borgonia, Marphine Faith Mangubat, Jeremy Pepito, Chris Aldritz Pondoyo, Jeremy Bajo, Edsel Vosotros, John Lester Belano, Adrian Basilgo, Jeena Balbona, Alphecca Gonzales, Krizal Gutang, Jave Peteros, Miguel Tequillo, Edelyn Vosotros, Michael Gocotano, Jerish Velarde, Romeo Lacanaria, Keith Morala and Nicole Mangubat.
