Ten dead, nine missing as ‘Seniang’ floods southern Cebu
At least ten persons were found dead after being washed out by floodwaters while nine more are still missing in Ronda town, southern Cebu as of Tuesday in typhoon Seniang’s wake.
A family of eight living in a house nearby the river in Ronda town was washed out. An eight-year old girl and her father are already found while other members of the family remain missing.
Typhoon Seniang made landfall at the vicinity of Sibonga town, southern Cebu at past 4 a.m. Tuesday with maximum sustained winds of 65 kph and gustiness of 80 kph.
Rivers in Sibonga, Ronda, and Dumanjug towns overflowed, washing away houses near the river.
The Dumlog bridge connecting Sibonga to other towns in the south was washed out causing heavy traffic. Alternative routes are still being considered for both south and north bound motorists.
At least six houses in a coastal barangay of Bagacay in Sibonga town were washed out. An elderly woman was killed in barangay Tubod after her house was swept away.
Residents said there were neck-deep floodwaters in their area.
Aside from Sibonga, Carcar City, Argao, Ronda and Dumanjug towns were also flooded. Cars were washed out and coconut trees were also uprooted.

Typhoon Seniang is now within the vicinity of La Libertad in Negros Oriental with rain warning signal Red issued in Negros Occidental, Leyte, Biliran and Samar provinces.
In Cebu, a yellow rainfall warning signal was hoisted along with Bohol and Siquijor which means that the rains may cause landslides and flooding in low lying areas.
Sibonga Mayor Lionel Bacaltos said in a radio interview that the rains were unusually heavy last night and the winds were very strong. A brownout hit the town last night.
