A village chief of Cambang-og in Toledo City was shot dead at the national highway at past 10 a.m., Tuesday.

Toledo City Legal Officer Glenn Cabada said in a radio interview that Cambang-og barangay chairman Timoteo Largo told fellow barangay chiefs and Toledo City Mayor John Henry “Sonny” Osmena that he received a death threat from a suspected drug dealer in his area prior to his death.

Largo’s vehicle was blocked by the suspect’s vehicle. Tabada said Largo went out of the vehicle and tried to talk to the suspect  but he was instead shot pointblank.

Witnesses said Largo tried to run a few meters away but the suspect shot him again before fleeing the scene.

The suspect was later arrested in barangay Cambang-og shortly before 12 noon during a hot pursuit operation by the Toledo police.
