Tricycle drivers in Lapu-Lapu City have started implementing the rolled-back minimum fare.

Since Thursday, members of the  Lapu-Lapu City Confederation of Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (Lactoda) have been collecting P7 minimum fare or a reduction of P1 from the previous rate. Discounted rates apply to students and senior citizens.

According to Felix Gila, president of the Lactoda, they did not wait for City Hall to release the new fare matrix for tricycles  approved by the City Council.

“Bisan og wala pa ang fare matrix nga i-release gikan sa city government pinaagi sa ordinansa nga gi-approve sa city council pero nipa-ubos na mi sa pletihan (Even without ordinance setting the new fare matrix, we have started implementing the fare rollback),” Gila said.

Lapu-Lapu City Councilor Eddie Cuizon, chairman of the City Council Committee on Transportation, said they will meet on Wednesday to schedule a public hearing on the fare reduction.
