MANILA, Philippines—The Senate blue ribbon committee on Monday cited Makati City Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay Jr. and five other officials in contempt and directed the Senate sergeant at arms to serve their detention order.

The panel convened on Monday to decide whether or not to cite Binay and six other city officials in contempt for continued refusal to attend the subcommittee hearings on the allegedly overpriced Makati City Hall 2 parking building.

No member of the Senate minority bloc was present when the blue ribbon committee chaired by Senator Teofisto Guingona III  started its meeting  around 1:30 p.m.

Aside from Guingona,  the  only committee members who attended the meeting were  Senators Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III and  Antonio Trillanes IV.

It was  Pimentel,  chairman of the blue ribbon subcommittee, who recommended  the contempt citation against Binay and six other city officials.
