More exciting surprises await this year’s participants of the 4th Kawasan Falls Marathon aside from the scenic route along the coastal towns in southwest Cebu and the majestic Kawasan Falls itself.

The municipalities of Badian, Alegria and Malabuyoc which are covered by the race’s official route, promised to roll out their warm hospitality to the runners of the March 15 race.

The run will have a 12-kilometer, 21k half marathon and 42k full marathon distances that will start and finish near the Kawasan Falls.

“We have been constantly looking for ways to improve this race because we want this to be part of the runners’ bucket list that’s why this year will be more exciting because we have a lot of surprises in store,” said the organizer, Dr. Potenciano “Yong” Larrazabal III during yesterday’s race launching at the Run For Sight Foundation headquarters in the Cebu Doctors University (CDU) Hospital.

Larrazabal III was joined by race director Joel Juarez of Coco Running and representatives of the three municipalities covered by the route.

According to Larrazabal, the runners will get to taste some delicacies from the three towns while his celebrity wife Donna is also planning to invite some stars to join.

The event will be Run For Sight Foundation’s kick-off race to be followed by the CDU-University Run in August and other planned races.

Top finishers will get cash prizes while a specially designed medal will be given to all finishers.

Registration fee opens on Feb. 1 pegged at P800 for the 12k; P1,000 for the 21k and P1,200 for the 42k. Early registrants will receive discounted rates.
