Family urged to file case against docs, nurses
The Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) called on the family of Jocelyn Coliflores to file a complaint against the two doctors and three nurses who attended to her minutes before her death at the Mandaue City Hospital.
“Part of the process will be verification to check if they are really registered (the medical staff) or not,” said Gina Emperado, PRC press relations officer.
The names of the doctors and nurses are withheld until their sides are heard on the case.
Jocelyn Coliflores died 30 minutes after being transferred from the Ignacio Cortes Hospital to the Mandaue City Hospital.
Coliflores complained of recurring fever and claimed that the medicines administered to her only worsened her condition.
Impartial
Her husband Cesar Coliflores, a former overseas worker, claimed the doctors didn’t run tests on Jocelyn prior to administering the medicines.
Emperado said a complaint will enable the PRC to summon the parties involved to a hearing that would decide if they would be suspended or their licenses revoked.
Cesar through his lawyer called on Mandaue City Hall, the Department of Health (DOH) and the hospital management to conduct an impartial investigation on the incident.
The Mandaue City Legal Office is conducting its own investigation into the incident.
He also sought the suspension of the two doctors and three nurses who attended to his wife as well as the release of his wife’s medical records to shed light on his wife’s death.
But Dr. Malou Espinoza, chief of the Mandaue City Hospital said they cannot assure the family that they can release all the medical records.
