F5WC tilt set

ALL IS set for the Football Five World Championships (F5WC) Cebu Qualifying tournament slated this Saturday at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).

A total of 17 teams have enlisted for the one-day tournament that will  have  a five-aside format. The winning team will qualify to the Philippine championships in Manila on March 28.

Tournament organizer Dino Musni said they are expecting to draw 20 teams, adding that officials of Football Manila will arrive tomorrow to watch the tournament.

The tournament is open to players 16 years old and above. Competing teams include ERCO, BRO Nationals, University of Cebu (UC), Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC), Leylam team A, Leylam Rice, Leylam Bread and Leylam Noodles,

University of San Carlos teams A and B, Team Bangon Isabel A and B, Ktec Trading, University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USP-F) FC, We United FC, Atletico de Cebu, Cebu U-23 and Mactan Economic Zone (MEZ) United FC.

The tournament, which is sanctioned by the Cebu Football Association (CFA), is planning to get two qualifiers for the Manila national championships.

“We are still negotiating with the organizers from Football Manila.We hope we can seal a deal after the tournament to give Cebu teams a bigger chance for the national title,” Musni said.

Winning team in the national championships will represent the country in the World Championships in Dubai, UAE on April. The overall winner in Dubai will win a trip to Berlin to watch the UEFA Champions League finals.
