POLICE are still waiting for a fast-food outlet in Talisay City to release security camera footage of the Feb. 20 shooting where a German tourist was killed and two other foreign customers were injured.

SP01 Mikie Espina, investigator,  said the management of the McDonald’s outlet in barangay Tabunok only gave a copy of still photos grabbed from the closed-circuit television cameras.

The branch said it had to clear the matter with higher management in Manila.

German tourist Heinrich Haffner was shot dead, a case of mistaken identity, by gunmen looking for   Frenchman Julian Maillard and Indian Cheten Saparaiya that came into the hamburger chain at dawn of Feb. 20.

Espina said they have requested the Talisay store management for a copy of the security footage, but they were told that they have to clear the matter with higher management in Manila.

Pictures grabbed from the CCTV camera recording were able to identify two of the suspects, Ricci Ramirez Jr. and Dexci “Tata” Gomonte, who remain at large.

In an earlier interview, Supt. Rex Derilo, head of the Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG),  said the motive of the killing could help determine key events that led to the killing.

Police quoting witnesses earlier said the two wounded foreigners confronted the two missing suspects after they allegedly taunted Saparaiya while they were inside the restaurant. An argument ensued but the store’s security guard managed to break them up. The two suspects left the store and returned with several companions armed with guns. The assailants allegedly barged into the store and shot Haffner whom they allegedly thought was the “puti” or Caucasian who had an altercation with Maillard and Saparaiya. Haffner was with his Filipina girlfriend in another table when the incident happened.
