BATCH 1995-La Nueva Pharmacy and Batch 1988-Dewfoam notched their third victories after pulling off contrasting wins last Thursday in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association (Cecaba) 14th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup at the CEC Gym.
Batch ‘95 walked the tightrope before nipping Batch 1997-Solane iStyle, 67-62, while Batch ‘88 easily cruised to a 71-51 win over Batch 2005-Headway Motorcycle Hub.
Joseph James Yu piled 19 points, Donald Anthony Ting scored 15 and Dean Dy Teves came up with 14 markers and nine rebounds for Batch ‘95, which trailed Batch ‘97 at the end of the first period, 19-21.
Batch ‘97 was still in the lead at the half, 38-29, and Batch ‘95 started to get things going by staging a 19-10 run in the third to tie the contest at 48, heading to the final stanza.
Batch ‘97 ran out of ammunition in the fourth, allowing Batch ‘95 to escape with the come-from-behind win.
Aubrey Jones Ibones scored 15 points—the lone player to score in double figures for Batch ‘97, which tasted its third loss in five games.
Gregorio Aguilar, on the other hand, collected 21 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals, Philip Lim fired 12 markers, Rey Kenneth Ng chipped 11 and Ricky Yu gathered 12 rebounds, eight points, five assists and a block as they helped Batch ‘88 improve to 3-1 (win-loss).
Batch 2005 struggled on offense as it had no player scoring in twin digits in its third loss in four outings.
