The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB-7) started its  inspection of buses in Cebu two days ahead of Holy Week.

Roadside inspection is expected to ensure that the buses plying the provincial routes are roadworthy, not overloaded and are authorized to ferry passengers.

Arnel Tancinco, Land Transportation Office-7 director said violators will be fined P1,000 under Joint Administrative Order 2014-01. Operators will be fined P1 million if found that their buses are colorum.

Teams were deployed since last Sunday in Danao, Medellin, Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, Carcar, Talisay and Toledo City to conduct roadside inspection.

“We will offload passengers in case there will be overloading. We will only allow the bus to leave once it already reached the seating capacity,” Tancinco said.

There are 330 buses, 180 minibuses for Cebu south and 262 buses and 118 mini buses plying northern Cebu.
