Never accept drinks from strangers or anyone automatically.

This was the advise given by Regional Director Jeffrey Bangsa of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to party and club goers as a new type of illegal drug called “liquid ecstasy” was seized last Wednesday night in Metro Manila.

“If it happened in Manila, then we could not discount its presence also here in Cebu City or neighboring municipalities,” Bangsa told reporters yesterday.

Gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid (GHB), a liquid form of the ecstasy drug is known as  a “date rape” drug offered to potential victims since it can also induce amnesia.
Bangsa said an overdose of GHB can lead to death.

“Initially matutulog yung suspect or victim, or it could led to death, di na siya magigising (the victim can fall asleep or it could lead to death, the victim won’t wake up),”he said.

Most of the targets are the party goers or youths who are open to experimental drugs or those going out for entertainment.
