AJL Surplus logs seventh victory by defeating Vancere Toys
PAUL Martin Gabatan and Tommy Yu came away with double-double performances to power Batch 1990s/2001-AJL Surplus to an 80-76 win over Batch 1987/2000s-Vancere Toys last Thursday in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association (Cecaba) 14th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup at the CEC Gym.
Gabatan was in his usual fiery form, firing a game-high 33 points while adding 12 rebounds, five steals and two assists.
Yu collected 18 markers, 10 rebounds, two steals and two assists as Batch 1990s/2001 nailed its seventh win in nine games.
Harold James Yan wound up with 19 points and 13 boards, Alfie Miranda Sy scored 15, John Quilacio netted 13 and Oliver Boltron tallied 11 but Batch 1987/2000s still faltered to taste its seventh defeat in nine matches.
In the other Batch 2007-Chef Chang secured its fifth win to go with two losses after dismantling Batch 2005-Headway Motorcycle Hub, 75-60.
Raymark Ong and Juan Carlo Espada paced Batch 2007 with 23 and 21 markers, respectively. Alejandro Bayer Jr. added 12 points. Kenneth Chang only scored two points but he had five rebounds, 5 blocks, three assists and a steal.
Philip Lua scored 21 points, Kent Uy had 18 and Don Cadorna registered 10 points and 10 rebounds for Batch 2005, which dropped to 1-8 (win-loss).
