AFTER GOING through a baptism of fire in their first game in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup, the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars will have no time to lick their wounds as they face off against the top team in their division, the Jose Rizal University (JRU) Heavy Bombers, Wednesday at the Arena in San Juan City.
Playing in this tournament for the first time, the Jaguars cracked under pressure and succumbed to the hard-pressing Letran Knights last Monday, 66-89.
USJ-R just could not get anything going as it failed to solve the riddle that was Letran’s full-court pressure defense, which forced the Jaguars to commit 32 turnovers.
The road does not get easier for the boys of veteran head coach Jun Noel as they battle the Heavy Bombers, who are coming off a 72-66 win over the St. Benilde Blazers.
Also on tap today are matches between the Knights and the Perpetual Help Altas and the Division B battle between the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers and the Mapua Cardinals.
