Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz will negotiate with the Korea Electric Power Corp. (Kepco) management at 5 p.m today at J. Center Mall to resolve the labor dispute.

About 11 supervisors and 44 rank-and-file employees were about to hold a strike early this morning when Secretary Badloz told the union that she will negotiate with the management.

Edmundo Mirasol, Regional Conciliation and Meditation Board (RCMB) director confirmed that lawyer Guillermo Dabbay, chief legal officer of Kepco management will represent the company during the negotiation.

Mirasol said he and Regional Director Exequiel Sarcauga of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) went to the Kepco-Naga plant at dawn to continue the negotiation but they failed to resolve the impasse.

Dennis Darige, spokesman of Partidong Mangagawa said the union is now ready for strike. “We are just waiting for the final meeting this afternoon with the secretary,” he told Cebu Daily News.
