Davide denies Nelson’s motion

Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III has ordered suspended Dumanjug Mayor Nelson Garcia to comply with his six-month suspension for grave misconduct and grave abuse of authority.

In a three-page order, Davide trashed Garcia’s urgent motion to recall the suspension filed before the Office of the Governor last May 12.

“The urgent motion to recall the order dated April 30, 2015 is denied (and the) order directing respondent Mayor Nelson Gamaliel F. Garcia to comply with the decision of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan in this case stands,” Davide wrote in his order, a copy of which was served to Garcia last Wednesday.

Last month, the Cebu Provincial Board recommended that Garcia be suspended for six months for grave misconduct and grave abuse of authority over the appointment of Emmylou Cabonillas as town council secretary in 2013.

The suspension order was served last May 4.
