Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma has encouraged Cebuanos to register as delegates for the International Eucharistic Congress (IEC) that will be held in Cebu City on Jan. 24 to 31, 2016.

Those who will register before November will get discounts.

In a report published at Ang Bag-ong Lungsoranon, the official newsletter of the Archdiocese of Cebu, Palma requested the parish priests to take the lead in gathering local participants for the IEC.

Those who are interested can register online through iec2016.ph or fill up the registration forms at the IEC Secretariat Office at St. John XXIII in Mabolo, Cebu City.

Only official delegates can attend the seminars and listen to a pool of international speakers at the Eucharistic Pavilion during the week-long congress.

Among the speakers are Timothy Cardinal Dolan of New York, Fr. Timothy Radcliffe, Fr. Francis Maloney, Fr. Robert Baron, Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, Cotabato Archbishop Orlando Cardinal Quevedo, and Filipina lay speaker Dr. Josefina Manabat.

The delegates can also take part in different activities during the IEC. They will also be provided with special modes of transportation.

The Cebu archdiocese expects around 15,000 delegates to attend the IEC in Cebu City next year.
