Ex Lapu-Lapu mayor’s daughter wins int’l pageant

A 49-YEAR-OLD Cebuana businesswoman was crowned Classic Mrs. Asia International Metropolitan 2015 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last June 18.

Jennifer Helen Weigel, a mother of three and daughter of the late former Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Ernest Weigel,  also bagged the Best in Traditional Costume Award among the 31 candidates for her costume made by Cebuano designer Philipp Tampus.

“I want to expand my advocacy in life,” Weigel said.

Weigel wanted to do charity works for street children and rape victims in Cebu City.

“I am a supporter of the Mother Theresa Foundation and I have been supporting the rape victims at the Department of Social Welfare and Development for a long time,” she said.

Started in 2012, Mrs. Asia International Pageant is the first pageant in Asia that caters to married women.

Two other representatives from the Philippines bagged several awards.

Winlove McLaren, a 26-year-old Ilongga, won Mrs. Asia International Metropolitan 2015 and the Alex Liu Award.
