Competition open to architecture and interior design students

Nippon Paint Philippines launched its 2nd Nippon Paint Young Designer Award (NPYDA) 2015 last Tuesday at the Henry Hotel in Cebu City.

This is the second time for NPYDA in the Philippines, but first in Cebu.

The launching was attended by Interior Design and Architecture students from the Eastern Visayas State University, University of San Carlos (USC) and Cebu Institute of Technology-University.

The competition, which  has two categories, namely, architecture and interior design,  aims to inspire students to apply their creativity and innovation in design.

This year’s NPYDA theme is “Design with Heart: For a Sustainable Future: With People in Mind.”

The competition is open to both architecture and interior design students, who are at least in their third year and whose schools are affiliated with United Architects of the Philippines and Philippine Institute of Interior Designers respectively.

A project of Nippon Paint Malaysia Group, NPYDA was organized in Malaysia in 2008 in line with Nippon’s corporate social responsibility.

Michael Chung, business management general manager of Nippon Paint Philippines, said, “Instead of giving things to schools, the company thought of doing something for the future by coming up with the NPYDA, which started as a small project that eventually grew.”

All entries must be submitted on or before Sept. 30, 2015.
