The concrete platform with  a pyramid-like structure of light wood and bamboo that will serve as the altar has to be expanded, said Fr. Brian Brigoli, chairman  of the IEC Venues Committee. This was the advise of the  Pontifical Committee for the IEC led by Archbishop Piero Marini.

A wider templete will give people from afar a better view of the altar at the South Road Properties in Cebu City.

Historical site
Brigoli said they decided to retain the original features of the templete, including the  bamboo towers with a large lighted  cross on top. A logo of the IEC will be added on the structure.

Brigoli is preparing other venues for IEC activities.

A large  stage is expected to be built at Plaza Independencia where the opening Mass on January 25 will be held.

The historical site will also be the venue for the Benediction after the Eucharistic procession on January 29.

The open space in front of the Capitol building will also be used for another Mass on January 29.

The  Cebu City Sports Complex will be used for the first communion of various children.

Construction of a  Eucharistic Pavilion is also ongoing at the seminary compound in barangay Mabolo.

The Pavilion will serve as the plenary hall  for 15,000 IEC delegates.
