Bad weather strands 231 passengers

At least 231 passengers were stranded due to bad weather conditions.

The Coast Guard Cebu district commander Enrico Efren said 39 vessels and 18 motor bancas below 250 gross tonnage are grounded as of 6 a.m., Monday. The weather state bureau raised a gale warning over Visayas.

Pagasa Visayas Director Oscar Tabada also warned the public on an intensified southwest monsoon as a typhoon is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) Wednesday morning.

Once it enters PAR, the typhoon will be named “Falcon”.

“It is still in the Pacific Ocean and is expected to reach the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) around Tuesday evening. Falcon will bring strong winds Habagat but will not make a land fall and will go towards the Southern Islands of Japan territory,” Tabada said.
