A centenarian celebrated her 104th birthday last Friday with much fanfare.

The wheelchair-bound Restituta “Lola Titang” Salis of sitio Pasanse, barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City was treated to a sumptuous dinner by Mayor Paz Radaza and barangay officials who brought her a birthday cake, some pansit, lechon, pork stew (humba), puso and other viands.

The mayor also gave her an undetermined amount of cash.

When asked about her secret to long life, Lola Titang said she loves to eat lugaw (rice porridge), vegetables and, occasionally,  pork stew (humba) and drink milk.

Lola Titang, who has eight children, 24 grandchildren and more than 30 great-grandchildren, is still hoping to live longer despite her age.

“It has always been a challenge for the Oponganons to stay healthy because medicines are very expensive,” said Radaza.

Barangay captain Junard Chan encouraged his constituents to observe self-discipline in eating in order to live longer and live in harmony like Lola Titang.
