A 49-year-old Cebuano aims to land on the Guinness World Record by breaking bricks.

Chi Master Gilbert Guiroy attempted to break 22 bricks yesterday afternoon at the Mountain View Park in Busay, Cebu City to beat the record of Frank Willis of the United Kingdom (UK).

Guiroy, however, failed to break all 22 bricks. He said he lost some energy because  he was doing demonstrations before the actual drill.

“I am sorry if I failed but we will continue to prepare as we attempt to submit an entry for the Guinness World Record,” Guiroy told reporters.

“I should have focused on breaking the bricks, not on performing other demonstrations with my students. But it’s fine,” he added.

Each brick is three inches thick and seven inches wide. Guiroy tried to break the bricks with his right hand.

Six bricks broke during his first attempt. He broke seven bricks on his next attempt.

“May panlaban naman tayo,” he added. (We have a fighting chance.)

He noted that Willis broke only two bricks during his first attempt of breaking 18 bricks.

Guiroy said he was able to break 22 bricks when he practiced two months ago.

Guiroy is a “life coach” at Neo Oneness World (NOW).

He teaches meditation, martial arts and healing, among other topics.
