Hotels and resorts in Mactan are enjoying high occupancy this week because of the upcoming Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines.

The international triathlon event will have its starting and finish line at the plush Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa.

The Shangri-La is the busiest as its deluxe rooms are already fully booked.

Shangri-la’s events supervisor Sofia Ubalde told Cebu Daily News their deluxe rooms were already booked since last week when participants started arriving.

“No more vacant deluxe rooms. Last week, participants have already checked in,” said Ubalde.

Participants of the Ironman race made earlier arrangement through Sunrise Events Inc. (SEI), the organizers of the race.

In a phone interview, Princess Galura of SEI said that they reserved 300 deluxe rooms for their participants.

The deluxe room is priced at P9,000 for each participant.

With the deluxe rooms already fully booked, only suite rooms charged at a higher price are left available for other guests.

In addition, the hotel can only accommodate walk-in guests staying for a maximum of three nights since they are still expecting guests to arrive this week.

“Every Ironman, we consider it our peak season. We are still expecting guests to arrive later this week for the triathlon event” Ubalde said.

Crimson Resort and Spa Mactan, Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu and Be Resorts Mactan are also enjoying high occupancy and are still accepting guests and bookings.
