City comment sought on judge’s inhibition

Judge Alexander Acosta of the Regional Trial Court Branch 9 yesterday asked Cebu City Hall to comment on former Cebu City mayor Tomas Osmeña’s petition for him to inhibit from handling the Doña Pepang Cemetery demolition case.

City lawyers have five days to do so. Osmeña’s lawyer Benjamin Militar said the judge should  let go of the case right away instead of asking the city lawyers to comment on their motion for inhibition.

The Cebu City government plans  to transform the cemetery into a heritage park the cemetery. The judge  dismissed a petition of Osmena seeking to stop the demolition of houses at the cemetery.
