Division A defending champions Petron Goldberry remained in a class all on its own as it outclassed the Cebu Landmasters, 67-58, at the start of the second round of the 20th Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) Cup on Sunday at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu campus in Canduman, Mandaue City.

Riding high on the crest of a six-game winning streak, Petron Goldberry dominated the first 30 minutes of the game and built up a sizable advantage that carried it through to its seventh victory in as many games.

Big man Leigh Dixon continued to be an unstoppable force for the league-leaders as he darted 17 points while wily guard Dave Ting and Justin Huang added a dozen each.

The Landmasters, which fell to 4-3 (win-loss) in this tournament, got 16 from Daryl Tan and 10 from Jet Wahing.

In other games in the same division, the RDAK Stallions kept their hold of second place with a 66-54 come-from-behind victory over Bayfront Hotel Cebu.

Former Magis Eagles standouts Jair Igna and Fletcher Galvez combined for 23 points to carry the fight for the Stallions.

The Cabahugs – Elmer and Elddie – had 22 and 10, respectively, for Bayfront, which fell to 3-4.

The Chick@Phil Basic also notched its first win of the season with a 45-41 conquest of Filmon Prince Medallion.
