THE UNIVERSITY of San Carlos (USC) and the University of the Visayas (UV) advanced to the winner-take-all finals in the SBP division of the Milo-backed BEST Tournament after they hurdled their respective opponents in the semifinals held over the weekend at the Ateneo de Cebu basketball courts along Mango Avenue.

USC, the defending champion, had no trouble booking its spot in the championship round as it handily took care of the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R), 63-18.

On the other hand, the University of the Visayas was taken to the hilt before pulling off a 41-37 squeaker over the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC).

The finals is a rematch of last year’s championship encounter. In their lone meeting in the elimination round this year, USC routed UV, 52-26.
