Workshop on disaster writing

By: PR October 09,2015 - 02:30 AM

THE Women in Literary Arts-Cebu Inc. (Wila) will hold a “Women in Disaster” creative nonfiction writing seminar-workshop on Oct. 10 and 11 at St. Mark Hotel in Cebu City.

Fifteen fellows, composed of 10 Wila members and five non-Wila members, have been selected to the workshop.

The workshop will gather creative nonfiction works that deal with women who have experienced or coped with natural disasters.

On the first day of the seminar, the speaker will give inputs on the basic tenets of creative nonfiction, on “fidelity of facts” required by the genre and disaster-writing, on writing on disaster and trauma literature, and on finding the spiritual in disaster.

Speakers who will also critique the submitted works of fellows are experts of creative nonfiction and award-winning writers Dr. Marjorie Evasco, Prof. Susan Lara, Prof. Victor Peñaranda, and retired Judge Simeon Dumdum Jr.
