MALAPASCUA Island will soon have a circumferential road.

Engr. Bobby Lim of the Provincial Engineering Office (PEO) said the preparatory works for the concreting of the road curb already started.

The winning bidder of the P3.9 million project in barangay Logon, Daanbantayan town is Socor Construction Corp.

The five-kilometer circumferential road is a component of the revised Malapascua Island Eco-Tourism Development Plan signed by Gov. Hilario Davide III last year.

Davide initially allocated P5 million for the MIEDP, which includes the construction of multipurpose building and development of water supply and hybrid power source.

In the PEO project status monitoring, around P122 million worth of infrastructure projects have been constructed this year.

Some of these are expected to be finished before the end of 2015 or early next year depending on weather conditions.

Most of the projects are roads, school buildings, and water supply.

The P20 million concreting of Abuno-Guindaruhan road project in Minglanilla town, southern Cebu was also started.

The road connects Minglanilla to the newly-developed Naga (City) Valley Industrial Park.
