FOUR high school students were wounded in a road accident in Danao City, northern Cebu last Monday afternoon.

Police said the accident happened when a Bogo City-owned ambulance hit a multicab, which stopped to give way to another vehicle.

SPO1 Renante Manulat said the accident happened in an area in barangay Dunggoan where one lane for the road was closed to traffic due to a road repair.

The multicab driven by Cheer Rochee Laurente stopped to give way to the ambulance behind him. The ambulance, driven by  Napoleon Talingting, 34, was transporting a patient to a hospital in Cebu City.

Talingting was about to overtake the multicab when he saw an oncoming truck from the other lane.

To avoid colliding with the truck, Talingting swerved to the right and hit the multicab. The impact caused the multicab to jolt forward, hitting the four students who were walking by the roadside.

Talingting brought the wounded students to the hospital.

Police said the ambulance driver promised to shoulder the students’ hospital expenses.
