THE SAN Miguel Beermen padded their winning run to four, while the Mahindra Enforcers snapped a four-game slide after they tripped separate opponents yesterday in the 41st PBA Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

The defending champions Beermen took down the reeling Star Hotshots, 101-90, to bag their sixth win in seven games that tied them with the Alaska Aces at the number one spot.

San Miguel and Alaska are now assured of a spot in the quarterfinal round.

Star absorbed its fourth straight loss and dropped to 2-6 (win-loss).

Mahindra, on the other hand, escaped the Meralco Bolts, 86-83, for their second win in seven games.

The Bolts stayed at the bottom of the standings with their seventh loss against a solitary win.
