Davao bowler snatches Masters lead

RUBEN Legorio of the Davao Tenpin Bowling Association/Zamboanga Tenpin Bowling Association (Datba-Zatenba) snatched the temporary lead in the top 48 Masters qualifying event in the penultimate day of the 17th Bowlingplex Tenpin Association (BTA)-Cebu Sinulog Open National Tournament at the Gaisano Bowlingplex.

With just a few games to be played, Legorio Jr. made sure he will land a spot in the coveted Masters to be played today by downing 1,343 pinfalls from the team, doubles and singles events.

He scored 427 pinfalls in singles good for 17th place, added 400 pinfalls in the doubles then tallied 476 pinfalls in the Team event

He and doubles partner Dodong Dionio totalled 813 good for 7th spot while his ZATENBA squad stands at 10th place in the three-man team event along with Dionio and Albert Sygaco.

Danny Sabang of CETBA 55AB is at second place in the Masters qualifying with 1,342 pinfalls followed by BTA-PRIMA’s Clarence Tiu and Marwin Santiago who submitted identical 1,334 pinfalls.

The fifth to 10th placers who are also assured of a spot in today’s Masters event include Bede Llano (1,333), Vivian Padawan (1,325), Xyrra Cabusas (1,285), Charly Michael (1,281), Boy Co (1,281) and Luke Bolongan (1,278).

BTA’s Luke Bolongan (430 pinfalls) and Sal Bolongan (423 pinfalls) are leading the doubles competition with 853 pinfalls followed by “Team” composed of Hilton Hernando and Danny Sabang (852) and another BTA squad composed of Cabusas and Llano (849).

Alex Ngoi of Bowling Association of Las Piñas (BALP) currently leads the singles event with 458 pinfalls followed by BTA-ASPS’s Ed Aniñon (452) and Ezzie Gan of Tenpin Bowlers Association of Makati (TBAM) (451).

In the three man team event, Team BTA of Cabusas, Aui Padawan and Llano leads with 1,252 pinfalls followed by Team (1,248) and BTA (1,233).
