The Department of Public Works and Highways in Central Visayas (DPWH 7) called officials of the cities of Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu to an emergency meeting at 10 a.m. today to discuss means to remedy congestion problems in their areas.

Engr. Joselito Sayson, head of the construction division of DPWH 7, said there is a need for them to identify bottlenecks and the cause of the congestion in order to address these.

“Dili man siya problematic. Nakalitan lang gyud ta sa traffic management. Naa na man unta tay advisories pero mura ug wa man nakuha sa tanan,” said Sayson.

At 7 a.m. today, DPWH 7 director Ador Canlas ordered the re-opening of the Lapulapu City bound lane of the old Mandaue Mactan Bridge hoping to remedy congestion in the area.

But congestion remained heavy because of ongoing road concreting works at D.M. Cortes Street in Mandaue City.
