The Cebu City Traffic Office (CCTO) has offered to help Mandaue City in addressing its traffic problems.

Joy Tumulak, CCTO operations head, explained that the congestion in the neighboring city is also affecting the traffic flow in Cebu City.

Tumulak visited the Mandaue City Hall on Thursday morning to speak with Glenn Antigua, head of the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue, (TEAM) and discuss the possibility of sending CCTO personnel to help man traffic in congested areas in Mandaue while repair of the old bridge is ongoing.

Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III is also calling a meeting with the Mactan-Cebu Bridge Management Board on Feb. 17 to discuss and come up with solutions on the traffic problems with the impending closure of the bridge.

Ethel Natera, Capitol information officer, said the governor wanted to especially sit down with officials from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Mactan Cebu International Airport as well as the project contractor and representatives from utility firms that will be affected by the ongoing repair.

The DPWH and the MCIA are among the members of the bridge board which is also composed of the Regional Development Council infrastructure development committee head, mayors of Lapu-Lapu, Cebu, Mandaue and Cordova; Land Transportation Office in Central Visayas and Police Regional Office in Central Visayas.
