Don Bosco teams bag two titles in CIS Cup

TEAMS from the Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) bagged two titles in last Saturday’s 2016 Cebu International School (CIS) Friendship Cup held at the CIS football pitch in Barangay Pit-os, Cebu City.

DBTC-B topped the mixed under-seven division by defeating the higher-ranked Einstein Mighty Geeks, 1-0, in the championship match while fellow Don Bosco Barca FC slipped by DBTC A, 2-1, in a shootout to rule the mixed under-nine division.

DBTC-B finished second in the group stage with five points then defeated CIS Dragons, 1-0, in the quarterfinals and Giuseppe FC, 1-0, in the semis.

Einstein Mighty Geeks earned a finals berth when they toppled down DBTC A, 3-0, denying an all-Don Bosco finale.

Signechrist Sumalpong of DBTC-B was named MVP in the mixed under-seven division.

Don Bosco Barca FC finished the group stage with 10 points to emerge as the top team in Group B while runner-up DBTC-A also topped the group stage with 15 points.

DB Barca bested Giuseppe FC in the semifinal match, 5-0, while DBTC A nosed out CIS, 2-0. DB Barca’s Gabriel Tabar earned the MVP honors in the division.

Meanwhile, DABIT FC ruled the boys’ under-18 division after defeating Abellana National School, 3-2, in a shootout.

DABIT FC’s Lorenzo Chengco was named MVP.

USC-BED topped the boys’ under-13 division after beating Suba Basbas FC, 2-1, in the finals. Vince Akut was named MVP.

San Roque FC grabbed the title in the girls’ under-18 division after accumulating seven points in the league-type format of the division.

Chicos United FC edged out Unihydro FC, 3-0, to be crowned women’s open division champion. The MVP was Chicos United FC’s Kristin Ramos.
