Police are trying to identify the driver involved in a hit-and-run incident where a teenager died at the South Road Properties (SRP) yesterday afternoon.

Joannie Sarona, base control operator of the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO), said the owner of the vehicle with plate number VFU-957 failed to surrender to their office after the driver hit a 14-year-old boy who suddenly crossed the street along Ludo Bridge at the SRP in Barangay Pasil, Cebu City.

The teenager, Eduardo Cervantes, a resident of Barangay Suba, died in the hospital due to severe head injuries.

He was brought by paramedics of the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, but he died at past 2 p.m.

“Dugay na na namong problema diha dapita kay daghan kaayong bata nga magsige og labang-labang. Kung imo buyagon kay managan ra pod unya mangambak sa dagat,” Sarona told Cebu Daily News by phone.
(The accident site has been a problem area for us because many children cross the street. If we warn and stop them from crossing, they would just run and jump from the bridge to the sea.)
