EXPECT to see more policemen on the streets as the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO 7)tightens  security for the Holy Week.

Chief Supt. Manuel Gaerlan, director of PRO 7,  told reporters in a press briefing that heightened alert status has been raised in the whole region to ensure the safety of the riding public.

“We will install assistance desks in areas where people will converge, such as churches, ports and terminals. We will also deploy marshals on the road,” Gaerlan said.

The Mactan Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) also activated its heightened alert status dubbed “Oplan Ligtas Biyahe” yesterday in anticipation of the influx of passengers who will be going to their respective provinces to observe the Holy Week.

Nigel Paul Villarete, MCIAA general manager, said no airport employees were allowed to take a leave of absence during the duration of a heightened alert starting yesterday until next Monday next week.

A help desk manned by airport personnel and police will also be established to assist passengers.

The airline will also be requesting additional flights to accommodate more passengers  this Holy Week.
