BACOLOD CITY — Mt. Kanlaon spewed ash and incandescent fiery rocks amid a booming sound at 6:20 p.m. yesterday, according to Mari-Andylene Quintia of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) station in La Carlota City in Negros Occidental.

The fiery rocks could be seen on the flanks of the volcano, said Supt. Frankie Lugo, Canlaon police chief. No flowing lava was seen, he added.

Mt. Kanlaon is an active volcano. With its twin-peaked massif rising 2,465 meters above sea level, the volcano is the centerpiece of Mount Kanlaon Natural Park.
