AI dismayed over govt’s rights record

THE local chapter of the human rights group Amnesty International railed against President Benigno Aquino III’s alleged failures to deal with extra-judicial killings and help victims of natural calamities.

“We feel that the present administration’s performance is dismal insofar as human rights is concerned,” said Romeo Cabarde, vice chairperson of Amnesty International-Philippines, in yesterday’s press conference at Abuhan Dos Restaurant.

He said they are still hopeful that the next president will be serious in addressing human rights violations.

AIP urged the five presidentiables to present clear programs to protect the rights of every Filipinos.
