More than 1,000 police officers will be deployed in the provinces of Cebu, Bohol and Siquijor four days ahead of the elections, the Police Regional Office (PRO 7) said yesterday.

Chief Supt. Patrocinio Comendador, PRO 7 chief, reminded the 1,591 police officers that gathered at the regional headquarters in Camp Sergio Osmeña to maintain their honesty and integrity.

“Now what we want from you is that when you are on the field, we want you to become leaders on your own right. Our activity today is a very challenging one, considering that we will be securing the 2016 election, which is a very crucial election for our country,” Comendador told the police officers.

The Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) already deployed eight special units as quick response teams in Cebu province to deal with emergencies.

Earlier this week, Comendador personally visited the provinces of Siquijor and Bohol to check on the security preparations.

For Cebu province, 943 police officers will be deployed in the cities of Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu and Cebu.

Siquijor will receive 50 police officers and Bohol province will receive 598 policemen for augmentation.

Comendador said that each police officer will receive P1,000 for uniform allowance while each local police station will receive P64,700 to buy supplies like food for this month.
