THE PHINMA-SOUTHWESTERN University (SWU) Cobras aim for a tie of the top spot when they tangle with the struggling Tyron Properties-University of Southern Philippines Foundation Panthers today in the 8th Cesafi Partner’s Cup at the Cebu Coliseum.

The Cobras, now sporting a fully loaded roster after going through last season with just eight players, got off to a rousing start in the tournament after they rallied from a 16-point deficit to stun the Mighty Sports-University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars, 71-68, last Sunday.

With veteran guards Jun Luz and two-time league MVP Mac Tallo leading the way along with the comebacking Bernie Bregondo, the Cobras are the odds-on favorite in today’s match against a reeling Panthers team that suffered a 57-71 beatdown at the hands of the Worthy-University of the Visayas (UV).

The other game in today’s doubleheader will see the Highlands Corned Beef-University of Cebu Webmasters taking on the My Led Opto-Cebu Institute of Technology-University Wildcats. The Webmasters are coming off a winning debut in their first game — a 91-72 rout of the Panthers.

The Wildcats, on the other hand, are raring to get on track after suffering a 59-58 defeat at the hands of the Cebu Landmasters-University of San Carlos in the late game on Sunday.
