Police arrested yesterday a suspect in the robbery and assault of a taxi driver at Barangay Alang-Alang, Mandaue City.
PO2 Lywylyn Rivera, a barangay policeman assigned in Barangay Alang-Alang together with a Mandaue SWAT mobile team pursued, cornered and arrested Jimboy Esnardo of Barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City, after he robbed and stabbed Holiday Taxi driver, Core Nudalo, in Barangay Alang-Alang.
Nudalo, who was confined in the hospital after suffering stab wounds in the head and body, told Rivera that Esnardo boarded his cab in Barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City and asked to be brought to Barangay Alang-Alang in Mandaue City. Upon reaching the corner of G. Ouano and Plaridel Streets, however, Esnardo suddenly started stabbing Nudalo in the head and body. The wounded Nudalo jumped out of the cab and sought the help of bystanders.
Rivera said police recovered a 5-inch knife, a small sachet of suspected shabu and the cabbie’s earnings from Esnardo, who claimed that he badly needed the money.
