Southwestern University to skip Prisaa meet next year

THE SOUTHWESTERN University (SWU) Cobras won’t be taking part in the Private Schools Athletics Association (Prisaa) meet next year to allow their school to complete the transition process in the hopes of strengthening their core for a long-term run.

SWU, which has been the centerpiece of Cebu squads in multi-sporting events, will be skipping the tournament after making some major changes in their administration.

“We have to allow the university to complete its transition process, specifically pertaining to strengthening our athletics program,” SWU athletics director Mike Reyes said.

It can be recalled that the Cebu men’s and women’s volleyball delegation composed mainly of players from SWU dominated last year’s regional Prisaa tournament in Cebu.

Reyes added that there is no timetable yet on when the Cobras will return to play in the Prisaa competition since they are not sure how long the transition period will be.
