Vendors told to leave Carbon market complex

June 14,2016 - 11:14 PM

A VENDORS’ group was ordered to move out of the second floor of the Carbon market complex for failing to secure permits from Cebu City Hall.

Cebu City Acting Mayor Margot Osmeña said she already issued a closure order on the stalls operated by members of the Cebu City United Vendors Association (CECUVA) on June 8.

“Somebody called me and told the status. Their members have no permits and no lease contract,” Osmeña said. CECUVA also failed to acquire a Certificate of Recognition from the City Market Administrator’s Office.

She said the Cebu City Prevention, Restoration, Order, Beautification and Enhancement (Probe) team will enforce the closure order. The acting mayor said the group’s political affiliation doesn’t matter in this case.

“These allegations will come back and forth. It always comes back and forth. We have to do it right,” she said.
