‘I will get rid of all of them’ – Tommy O on drug dealers

The killing of drug dealer Jeffrey “Jaguar” Diaz by Cebu-based police operatives on Friday has sent ripples through Facebook as a wave of comments continued to flood the social media page of incoming Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña.

Osmeña followers bombarded his FB account with information regarding the operations of drug dealers in their respective places along with hopes that the incoming mayor would do something about it.

Netizens posting on Osmeña’s FB page lauded the death of Jaguar and shared their own stories about the rampant trade of illegal drugs in their areas with some residents of neighboring towns and cities like Mandaue, Talisay and San Fernando also posting comments on Osmeña’s FB page.

“Give me the names and locations of all the pushers in your neighborhood. I will get rid of all of them.

The more details, the better. I will set up a hotline that you can text soon,” Osmeña responded to netizens.

According to Osmeña, people can send anonymous text messages to the hotline, which he intends to set up before June 30 and assured that he will check on all their reports.

“Even before (I assume office), I can get started even now because I enjoy the full trust and confidence of the acting mayor (his wife, Margarita Osmeña). Haha,” he told Cebu Daily News in a text message.

Osmeña vowed to definitely go after drug lords in the city saying that he does not make empty promises.

“(This is) not a threat, but a promise. I keep my promises,” he said

However, Osmeña refused to comment on whether he would give cash rewards to elements of the Regional Intelligence Division (RID) 7 and the Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG) 7 for the deaths of Jaguar and his alleged bodyguard, Paul Vincent Igloria, during Friday’s operation conducted in Las Pinas City, Metro Manila.

Osmeña said that he did not believe Jaguar’s claim made in a dyRF interview last Sunday about retiring from the illegal drug trade to live a drug-free life.

“He said he was going to retire and cooperate with the police. If he was sincere, why didn’t he surrender right then and there? Why was he rotating among eight different hideouts in Las Piñas, Manila with an armed bodyguard?,” Osmeña said.
