A 20-year-old man who was arrested during a buy-bust operation last June 18 in Sitio Bato, Barangay Ermita, Cebu City was finally charged in court yesterday for violation of RA 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Abel “Dodong” Cuyno Valiente, 20, allegedly yielded sachets of shabu totaling 30 grams with an estimated value of P300,000 during the buy-bust.

A separate charge was also filed against his cohort, 36-year-old Archie Lanojan, for handing over a sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer.

According to the joint affidavit of the raiding team from the Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (RAIDSOTG 7), Valiente already had previous transactions with their confidential informant, who informed them that he is selling shabu at P200 per small sachet.

It was stated in the affidavit that during their buy-bust operation, Valiente was talking to Lanojan in front of their house when the poseur-buyer arrived and that it was Lanojan who negotiated with the poseur-buyer and handed to him a small sachet believed to be shabu.

Before the officers could effect an arrest, both Valiente and Lanojan went inside the house resulting to a chase before both of them were subdued by the raiding team.

Both charges are non-bailable.
