Reports surface crime lords raising P1-B bounty for the heads of Duterte, Dela Rosa

Davao City — President-elect Rodrigo Duterte did not mince words when he talked about the plan to assassinate him.

Duterte said he could match the bounty placed by drug lords on his head.

“No questions asked, pataasan kami ng presyo,” the tough-talking mayor said during the turnover of command ceremony at the Davao City Police on Friday.

The 71-year-old incoming President said he would promote policemen who would “slaughter” those involved in drugs and wanted to assassinate him.
“If they put up P100 million, I will give you P150 million, slaughter them. I will give you a promotion on the spot, from PO1 to general,” he said.

Reports have surfaced that top and crime lords are raising a P1-billion bounty for the heads of Duterte and incoming Philippine National Police chief Ronald dela Rosa.

Dela Rosa has earlier claimed that the bounties were offered by drug lords incarcerated in the New Bilibid Prison.

Duterte remained unfazed by these threats as he pushed for the reinstatement of the death penalty under his administration. He said drug lords and criminals need not to be afraid because they would surely die.

“You don’t have to be afraid. You will surely die…You pay for what you’ve done,” he told in a speech before policemen here.

He said policemen should not be afraid to do their jobs and he would take care of them. “Just do your job according to the law,” he said.
He reiterated his orders to the police to kill criminals resisting arrest.
